Born and brought up in Pontarddulais, Eric Jones was educated at Gowerton Boys’ Grammar School before graduating in Music from the University of Wales Cardiff. He started his teaching career in Llanelli, and subsequently became Head of Music and Creative Arts at Mynyddbach School, Swansea. After a period as Deputy Headmaster at Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr, he took up a post as Headmaster of Ysgol Bro Myrddin, the Welsh medium comprehensive school at Carmarthen in 1997. He holds both the Licentiate and Fellowship diplomas of the Trinity College of Music, London, and a Masters degree of the Open University. He adjudicates frequently at the National Eisteddfod in vocal and composition competitions, and has been made an honorary member of the Gorsedd of Bards for his services to music in Wales. As a composer he has published five volumes of songs and a large number of choral works. He becomes President of Cor Meibion Pontarddulais having been the Accompanist of the choir for a period of eighteen years between 1973 and 1991.

A native of Murton on the Gower Peninsular, Clive John Phillips was born in 1959 and educated at Bishopston Primary and Gowerton Comprehensive schools. He received music tuition from Professor John Edmunds LRAM, Brenda Llewellyn LRAM ARCM (Piano) and John Morgan Davies LWCMD FTCL LRAM ARCM (Organ).

Clive was first appointed as an accompanist to a local choir at the age of 12 and in 1977 became the accompanist and deputy conductor to the Llanelli Male Choir, a position he held until he became the Musical Director of Aberavon Male Choir in February 1983.

Following a short period as Associate Musical Director of the Dunvant choir, Clive was appointed the Musical Director of Burry Port Male Voice Choir where he remained until he was invited by Noel Davies MBE JP, to become the accompanist of the Pontarddulais Male Choir, a position he held from 1991 to 2002, when he was appointed Musical Director.

He has conducted concerts at many venues throughout the United Kingdom including The Royal Albert Hall, London, Chelmsford Town Hall, Oxford Town Hall, and the massed male choirs at Richard Burton’s memorial concert.

He had the honour of conducting in concert a number of the famous military bands including The Royal Marines, The Scots Guards, The Coldstream Guards and The Welsh Guards.

As an organist he made over 30 recordings with various choirs and has played at many venues including The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, Central Hall Westminster, Coventry Cathedral, Birmingham Town Hall, St David’s Hall Cardiff and the Brangwyn Hall Swansea. He has given organ recitals at various churches in the Swansea and Llanelli areas.

His pursuits as a solo accompanist have seen him accompanying many world famous singers. He also accompanied the astrologer Patrick Moore who was performing his own xylophone music at a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Clive Phillips was on the panel of accompanists during the 1982 Swansea National Eisteddfod.

He is also Musical Director and Associate Conductor of the Black Mountain Chorus of Wales and Musical Director of Llanelli Musical Players.

Born in Cardiff in 1976, Rhiannon was educated at the 'Bishop of Llandaff High School', received piano tuition at the 'Royal Academy of Music, London’, as a result of two Associated Board prizes, and read Music at 'Cardiff University' having been awarded the 'David Lloyd Vocal scholarship' on entrance.


Brought up in Barry and receiving her early education through the medium of Welsh, Rhiannon’s career began as a Singer, winning many competitions, culminating in being awarded the prestigious title of '1989 National BET Choirgirl of the year'. Solo performances at 'St David's Hall', Cardiff and the 'Royal Albert Hall' followed, alongside a part-time vocal scholarship at the 'Welsh College of Music and Drama'. As a Violinist with the 'South Glamorgan Youth Orchestra', Rhiannon also became a member of the 'National Youth Choirs of Wales and Great Britain' and the RSCM Cathedral Singers, whereby she was successful in obtaining her 'St Cecilia Senior award', and thereafter her Licentiate Diploma in Voice from the 'Trinity College of Music, London'.


Now sought after as an accompanist, Rhiannon is a ‘Fellow’ of the London College of Music in this discipline, a Licentiate and Associate of the same college (solo piano) and also of the ‘Guildhall, Trinity and Royal Schools of Music' - achieving distinctions in all. 


In 2008, Rhiannon was made an honorary 'Lady' member of the renowned 'Treorchy Male Choir' for whom she was principal accompanist (1998-2002).Appointed accompanist to the 'Bridgend Male Choir' (2003-2008), also assisting as MD on many occasions, she appeared during the Choirs’ run of competition successes and received special commendation from the Eisteddfod Adjudicators. Rhiannon has also accompanied in concert- Llanelli, Cwmbach, Maesteg, Llantrisant, & Cambrian Male voice choirs.


Rhiannon is now proud to be an accompanist with the 'Pontarddulais Male Choir' (September 2008-) and accompanied their 50th anniversary recording this year, as well as enjoying many home and away concerts, including their recent tour to Spain.


As a performer, she has toured with Choirs to Australia, America, Canada, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France and Northern Ireland and also accompanies many well known singers and instrumentalists on a freelance basis as well as being an 'Organist' for the 'University of Glamorgan's Award Ceremonies' since 2006.


A private music teacher at her 'Treorchy' home, Rhiannon has, since their formation, been 'Community leader’ for the Pontypridd area of ‘Only Boys Aloud!’-an initiative set up by conductor Tim Rhys-Evans of ‘Only Men Aloud!’ She has also been the Musical Director of ‘Ynysybwl Ladies Choir’ since 2002, and in 2009 they were successful in winning the ‘Open Choral competition’ held at the Abergavenny Eisteddfod. In November (2010), Rhiannon is to accompany the ‘Massed festival of Ladies choirs’ and soloist ‘Beverley Humphreys’ at St David’s Hall Cardiff, an event she previously accompanied ( and conducted) at in 2008.


As a percussionist, she enjoys freelance duties for many Brass Bands, previously winning the Harrogate National finals with ‘Newbridge (Celynen)’ in 2007 and in September 2010, will again represent Wales in Harrogate as a member of the ‘Upper Rhondda Brass Band’. As an Adjudicator, Rhiannon made her debut at the final of the 'Rotary Young Musician of South Wales' held at the Millenium Centre, Cardiff in 2009.


Future engagements include performing the Brahms Requiem at ‘StJohn’s Smith Square, London’, as duo pianist alongside Nicola Rose and the ‘English Baroque chamber Choir’ conducted by Jeremy Jackman. Also, as accompanist for the ‘Massed festival of Male choirs’ to be held at St David’s hall in the autumn of 2011 under the leadership of Richard Stephens.

After a career in commerce John took up music on a professional basis and studied as a mature student at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.

He then embarked on a teaching career in both primary and secondary education. He is active in music ranging from Classical to Jazz and is just as likely to be playing lunchtime jazz concerts as giving organ recitals.

He is heavily involved in amateur operatics and has been musical director for amateur operatic societies.
